Almost everything Hard Water Feed holds is a public water-well record published by a state agency. When a well is drilled, the licensed driller must file a report, and the state publishes it — typically including the property address and the owner’s name. We read those published files. Nobody submitted anything to us.
That is lawful in every state we operate in, and we have checked each one rather than assumed it. It is also not what most people expect a privacy policy to be about, which is why it is the first thing on this page instead of a clause near the bottom.
The records we read:
We hold no telephone numbers for any property owner, anywhere. That is deliberate and structural — there is no field for one — so this data cannot generate a phone call.
Hard Water Feed sells a weekly list to one water-treatment business per territory. That dealer receives the addresses and the area chemistry for new wells in their own service area. They do not receive owner names.
We do not sell or share this data with advertising networks, data brokers or anyone else. Our payment processor (Stripe) handles card details; we never see or store them.
We cannot remove you from your state’s public record — only the state can do that, and the record exists whether or not we read it. What we can do, and will:

The forms here ask for a county and an email address so we can send you a sample of your area’s data. We use that address to reply and to send what you asked for. Every commercial email we send carries a postal address and a way to stop.
Reply STOP to any email, or write to [email protected], and we will stop. We record the date the request arrives and it takes effect immediately — once an address is on that list, nothing in our system is able to mail it again.
Information lawfully obtained from government records is excluded from “personal information” under the CCPA, and we are below every threshold at which that Act applies. We are telling you what we hold and how to be excluded regardless, because the answer should not depend on which state you live in.
Well records are kept as history — a feed of what is new only works if we remember what we have already seen. Addresses excluded on request are kept as an exclusion, which is the only way to keep honouring it.
The data lives in a private database. The weekly pages a dealer receives sit behind unguessable links and are marked not to be indexed by search engines. They carry a street address and never a name.
